On January 5th, a few minutes after puck drop, I managed to shoulder my way into a seat. The Cotton Bowl Stadium only had one side of the rink available for seating, and it was packed as hundreds of Longhorns and Aggies came out to watch some hockey. Right as I sat down the Aggies stole a goal from UT, and the crowd went insane. Our boys were up on the visitor’s end of the scoreboard, and it was clear who was more welcome. Still, in shiny white jerseys embellished with Bevo’s image, the Longhorns saw their chance at greatness. They took it.
Over the rest of the game, UT scored four goals, never allowing A&M another goal. Each time puck hit net, a sea of cheers crashed over the stadium. It was amazing to see the turnout of support and enthusiasm. From my high vantage point I could see the large student section right near the ice.

It was an electric experience, and it’s the Texas Ice Beauties’ goal to have our boys supported like this at every game. Texas Ice Hockey made history that night, and we were glad to be a part of it.
